    Excessive salt in your diet will add stress to your body in 2 ways.

    It can have a depleting effect on the levels of potassium in your body. Potassium is an important mineral which helps control the nervous system of your body.

    It has a negative effect on your blood pressure, causing it to rise, which in turn will add pressure to your heart and arteries.

    You can reduce the amount of salt in your diet by simply avoiding adding normal table salt to your meals, try an alternative such as low-sodium salt when adding salt to your cooking. 

    As a direction, it’s always good to limit your daily salt intake to one gram, or one teaspoon per day. If you must choose to buy processed foods, try to search for low salt items.
