Today marks the start of the 28 day challenge that was created here on Anxiety United. In an attempt to put together a proactive plan for sufferers of anxiety to challenge them over a 4 week period.

The first of the challenges is to meditate for 20 minutes. And there may be people out there who struggle with meditation, there are so many conflicting ideas about what meditation should include or how you should approach it.

If, like me you’re a beginner when it comes to meditation, then it wouldn’t hurt to head over to youtube to get some ideas on how others approach meditation.

A really good starting point on youtube is this short series from Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu, there are 6 short episodes on How To Meditate

The fact that I’ve known about having to do this all day (it’s now 5.40pm) has really given me something to actually think about. I spent a good while thinking about where and when I was going to meditate, so this has almost acted as a slight distraction today.

The 20 minutes in which I meditated today passed in what seemed a very quick time. I was going to create videos for each of the days, but due to time constraints, I think there will be days where I will have to do as I am now and create a short blog post for anyone who is tagging along.

I’d love it if you shared your experiences during this challenge. If you’re following along and you’ve completed your 20 minute meditation today, leave a comment down below and let me know how it went.

Tomorrow is a particularly interesting challenge for me, as it’s “to go for a walk”. Which is something I’ve often struggled with in the past. Of course though, you’ll be the first to know how it goes tomorrow.

Thanks for reading, now lets crack on with day 2 in good spirits.
